A standard project allows you to ask respondents:

- 7 standard demographic questions - Select from our bank of questions including age, race/ethnicity, gender, educational attainment, region, political identity, etc.

- 1 custom demographic or screening question of your choosing like, "Do you use a digital wallet?" or "Do you plan to vote in the November 2026 election?"

- 1 quantitative question like, "Would you support or oppose a proposal to build a new data center in your local community?" or "If the election were held today, would you vote for Candidate A or Candidate B?"

- 5 research questions that will be answered through the course of an adaptive chat with each respondent (like, "What are the main reasons why people don't want a new data center in their local area?" or "What do voters like most about Candidate A?")

Standard deliverables include:

- A summary of the sample's demographic characteristics

- Results of your quantitative question for the sample overall and for standard subgroups (e.g., X% of women 65+ would support a new data center, X% would oppose, and X% don't have an opinion)

- Results of your 5 research questions for the sample overall and for standard subgroups like, "Among women 65+, X% report concerns about noise pollution, X% report concerns about energy use, X% report concerns about the unappealing appearance of data centers..."

- Full chat transcripts (deidentified)

For an additional fee, we can:

- Conduct chats in languages besides English

- Include additional custom demographic questions

- Include additional research questions

- Conduct A/B tests

- Provide custom reports (memo, slide deck)

- Provide live results briefing(s)

- Participate in media events

Absolutely. We can embed your creative assets in our adaptive chats.

We're happy to conduct A/B tests as an add-on. For example, we often structure chats to ask half of respondents (Split A) how they feel about a policy/proposal/candidate, and the other half (Split B) to watch an ad then tell us how they feel about the policy/proposal/candidate. This allows us to infer the persuasive impact of the ad on respondents' attitudes.

We can make sample size recommendations (i.e., the number of respondents we chat with) based on your project goals. Typically the range is between 300 and 2,000 depending on your goals, characteristics of your audience, and budget.

Project timeline depends on your research goals, sample size, and add-ons. Most projects take roughly 1-2 weeks between the time you finalize your research question and when you receive results from Chats At Scale.

No. Incentives can often introduce bias into a sample and therefore bias in the results. We find that respondents are willing to engage in chats without compensation when we ask them questions that are interesting and relevant, and in a messaging app-style format they find familiar and intuitive.
